Winter in Romania
Winter months are:December,January and February.In winter is very cold.The coldest month of the year is February.Sometimes the temperatures are below -24CThis year the weather was so cold that the Black Sea coast was frozen.So, people could walk in the place where last summer they could have drown.Many tourists went there to admire it.This phenomenon happens once in 20 years.Now is March ,but it's still winter outside,because it snowed and the traffic is slow and there are closed roads.
Winter festivals
On the 1st of December is Romania's national holiday.We celebrate the great union of the three Romanian countries.On the 24th of February the Romanian people celebrate "Dragobete" the lovers' day,a kind of "Valentine's Day".
Winter activities
In winter people stay at home or go to the mountains .There are many mountain resorts in the Carpathians mountains.The nearest of us are those on the Prahova Valley .There they can practise winter sports or visit the Peles castle and Bran castle.
Winter food and recipes
Romanians like to eat much ,especially meat.A very few of us are vegetarians.A traditional Romanian dish in winter is 'sarmale'(force -meat rolls in cabbage leaves).The mince pork is used for preparing it.It is served with 'mamaliga',a kind of maize (corn) mush.To prepare it you must pour 1 litre of water in a pot and add some salt.Bring it to the boiling point and sprinkle maize flour mixing continuously with a wooden spoon, until it becomes a thick paste(1, 2 minutes)Then let it boil for another minute and that's all you can eat it with sarmale.

Winter weather
Winter is a cold season. This winter was a very hard one in Europe, so it was in Romania. Some people died here. They were people of the streets. There was much snow at the end of winter. There was a snow-fight at school those days. We enjoyed it a lot.
Winter activities
Winter is a nice season. I like it because only in winter I can go skiing. It snows a lot in the mountains, so those who like to practise winter sports prefer winter rather than other seasons. Those who don’t know to ski can go by cable car or cable chairs.
Winter festivals
On the 1st of December we celebrate Romania’s national day. In 1918 the three countries: The Romanian country, Transylvania and Moldova were united for the first time under the name Romania. There are parades in big cities. People go and admire the army parade.
Winter food and recipes
Being cold in winter, people need to warm themselves. Here in Romania people like to drink hot wine and hot Romanian brandy (tuica).
In 1 liter pot pour 1 litter “tuica”, 10 gr sugar, 5gr pepper/ Mix them together then cover the pot and boil until it reaches the boiling point. Drink it as hot is possible!

Winter, one of my favourite seasons is very nice. It is indeed cold but snow covers the ground, trees and houses and makes such a beautiful scenery that you forget about cold. This winter was a hard one with the temperatures of – 32 C in some parts of the country. Some people died of cold but this happened not only in Romania.
Winter activities
In Romania, people like spending their week-ends in the mountains where they can practise winter sports. Those who don’t go in the mountains spend their leisure time staying at home, watching TV or going to the skating rink. Anyway winter means Christmas, New Year Eve and a lot of Orthodox holidays when people like celebrating them.
Winter festivals
There aren’t many festivals here in Romania in winter. The Romanian Eurovision is one of them. This show becomes more and more important. This year a man will represent Romania in Greece. There are many mountains resorts in Romania. In winter, each of them celebrate the so called “Snow festival” at different days. On those days, well known bands and singers come and sing in open air stages. People listen to them and go skiing on the nearby sky slopes. There are also different games and contests on the slopes. Those who go there have a lot of fun.
Winter food and recipes
Because it’s cold people need to warm themselves. Some of them drink hot tea, others “hot wine”. It is said that you can drink a cup of hot wine instead of taking an aspirin, in the case you’ve caught a cold. Pour a cup a black wine in a tea pot add, a tea spoonful of sugar inside and boil it for about 1 minute. Drink it as hot as possible and you will be very well.

Winter is a cold season,here in Romania.February is the coldest month of the year with temperatures of 0 to -24C.This winter was one of the coldest in the last 25 years.The temperatures fell under -30C and there wasn't too much snow here in the south part of the country where we live.Today is the 1st of March and is the first day of spring,but mother nature gave us the most beautiful present-snow-.It snowed a lot last night.
Winter Festivals
The so called 'Romanian Eurovision' took place at the end of February.It was a great show . Many singers participated to this Eurovision and people sent their votes for the song they liked best.
Winter Activities
In winter the Romanian people like to spend their weekends in the mountains where they can practise winter sports.I usually spend my weekends indoors with my family.Sometimes I go for a walk with my cousin and my friends.If there is snow we play in the snow ,make a snowman or fight with snowballs.
Winter Food and Recipes
Romanians like to eat a lot .I think this is one of their pleasures.Pork is their favourite.In old times most of the families used to have a pig in their yard which was sacrificed one week before Christmas.Its meat well prepared was the main dish for Christmas.Now we can find pork evrywhere in the market .'Sarmale'is a traditional Romanian dish.For making it you need mince pork,rice ,chopped onion,tomatoes pasta,pepper and pickled cabbage leaves.
Mix the mince pork with the ingredients,take a spoonful and wrap it in a cabbage leaf.Put them in a pot ,pour some water and boil it for about two hours.

The weather in autumn is not so nice. There are days when we can’t see the sun because the sky is covered by grey clouds. Sometimes it drizzles sometimes is foggy. But there are nice days too. This autumn was long and nice. It was even very warm. Now the winter started and the temperatures are lower and lower. It hasn’t snowed yet. We like snow and hope there will be lot of snow on Christmas.

School life
This day at school is very difficult because we must have tests in math and Romanian. These are also other contests in which those who want can participate.

Preparation for Christmas
Our school is a big school. There are many classrooms. Each classrooms is decorated by the students who learn there. That is why there is the contest “The most beautiful classroom”. At home I usully decorate my Christmas tree. My brother used to help me but now he is at College in town and doesn’t have time to help me.

The trees are in sorrow, their leaves fell down covering the ground with a thick red carpet of dried leaves, although a little somber, autumn is a nice season because its very rich.

School life
Autumn is the season when school starts again. The merry sounds, those of the students' voices younger or older are heard everywhere in the school. Now the school is alife, it’s not dead like in the summer time. We work hard the last days before Christmas holiday because this is the period when we have tests and contests. There was a “Kangaroo” smart at math, now follows another “Kangaroo” contest; this time is a linguistic one.

Preparation for Christmas
Christmas is coming and we, the children are very happy. We’ll decorate our school and classrooms. It’s the most beautiful part of the school year. The last day we’ll have a party at school. We’ll sing carols, listen to music and dance. I love that day!

Autumn in Romania
Autumn is the 3rd season of the year, here in Romania. It is a beautiful season. It is the richest of all, because at the beginning of autumn most fruit are ripe. The pear tree and the apple tree are full of ripe fruit . Sometimes the weather is not so fine because it’s chilly and rains. The trees change their coat: the leaves are yellow or brown. A multicolored carpet covers the beautiful forests of Romania. The temperature rarely falls under 0º C. This year the autumn was gorgeous.
There were temperatures between 15ºand 18º C.
Life at the moment.
There are lots of contests at the end of November and the beginning of December. They are Arhimede, Kangoroo contests( math contests).
Preparation for Christmas.
The second week in December we are going to decorate the Christmas tree with globes, tinsel, multicolored candles and other decorations.
We also decorate our houses: we attached to the front of the doors a lovely wreath. Some of the trees in front of the houses are decorated with brightly colored globes.
The trees are decorated beautifully at Christmas. A bright Christmas tree invites everyone to share the holy joy.

Now in Romania is a bit cold outside because winter is coming.There were some cold days at the end of Octomber when the temperatures dropped below 0, but generally speaking there aren't low temperatures in autumn.Sometimes we see the first snowflakes in autumn but they melt when they touch the ground.So we'll see the white blanket of snow only in winter.
School life at the moment
At the end of November and the beginning of December there are some contests at which students can participate.They have tasks from science,Romanian,English French and other foreign languages.Students can choose the tasks.They are a kind of national contests.
Preparation for Christmas
These days,we are decorating our classrooms with tinsel,colourful decorations and electric lights.We like doing it.Each classroom is prepared for the contest"the most beautiful classroom in school"At home every family is preparing for Christmas.We clean our rooms and some days before Chrismas Eve we decorate our firtree and wait for "Santa" to come.On the 25th of December people go to the church and pray.When they come home they have their traditional meal which was specially prepared for that day.On Christmas Eve children go from house to house singing traditional songs.In fact different carols are singing from the 6th of December(when is St.Nicholas'day)till the 31st of December(New Year's Eve).

There are four seasons here in Romania:spring,summer, autumn and winter.Autumn is the season when mother nature is preparing for its sleep during the winter season.So the trees are changing their coats.Now the leaves are yellow and even red.They fall down on the ground and cover it with a magnificent carpet.I like walking on this carpet kicking it and watching the colourful leaves flying in the air.Autumn is nice because now the grapes are ripe (they are my favourite fruit).Sometimes the weather is nice,sometimes it is not because it rains and it's very chilly Sometimes,at nights the temperatures are below 0.

School life at the moment

At the beginning of December we have to take part in some contests.They have different names and they have tasks from math, Romanian ,English,science.There are sports competitions too.

Buzau city, capital of Buzau county lies on the south-east of Romania, on the left bank of the Buzau river.
The first documentary attestation of Buzau is from 372 April 12 in a Papal Document.
The town is an old settlement, dating from the Stone Age. The Monteoru Culture from the Bronze Age can be considered the development nucleus of this culture in the whole Europe.
In the modern and contemporary epoch Buzau was first a market place, and then a town with economical importance becoming a commercial center in the Romanian economny.

Now a few things about town. Buzau is a small town 100 km far from Bucharest which is the capital of Romania. Buzau lies in the south-east of the country. The town is an old settlement, dating from the Stone Age. The first documentary attestation of Buzau is from 372, April 12 in a Papal Document. Now it`s an important industrial centre. There are lots of schools, high schools and 2 universities.
